Brush Hogging

Brush hogging is the maintenance cut — heavy rotary mowing that keeps pastures, vacant lots, and set-aside ground from going backwards. Mow it once or twice a year and it stays grass. Skip a few years and you're paying for land clearing instead.

The work

We run heavy-duty cutters that handle waist-high grass, weeds, and woody brush up to a couple inches thick — the stuff that would destroy a finish mower. Ponds, terraces, and rough ground are normal for us.

Common calls: acreage that got ahead of the owner, city-notice violations on vacant lots, CRP and lease ground that needs its annual cut, and pre-sale cleanups so a property shows well.

What's included

  • Pasture and acreage mowing
  • Vacant lot cutting (including city-notice work)
  • Pond dams and waterways
  • Fence line knockdown
  • Annual and semi-annual maintenance cuts

Typical calls

  • 5–40 acre pastures
  • Vacant lots in town

Brush Hogging questions

How thick can the brush be?

Grass, weeds, and woody stems up to about 2 inches cut fine. Thicker than that — young trees, established cedar — is forestry mulching territory, and we'll quote it that way so it's done right.

Do you do small lots or only acreage?

Both. A vacant lot in town and forty acres of pasture are both normal weeks for us. Small lots are usually a flat price; acreage is priced per acre after we see the ground.
